The Senate of the Philippines has questioned the Department of Information and Communications Technology over the recent outage of the eGovPH Super App, citing funding and infrastructure limitations behind the disruption.

During a hearing of the Senate PROTECT Committee on April 29, lawmakers reviewed the integration of the National ID system for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Bam Aquino raised concerns over the app’s two-day downtime in mid-April.
The outage occurred after more users began using the new services which included the National ID e-Verify platform according to DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr.
According to Almirol the platform received simultaneous usage from banks GCash Maya and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
He added that the backend infrastructure was not prepared for the sudden demand, forcing the agency to rely on limited cloud savings to support the rollout. The hearing highlights ongoing concerns over government digital readiness as demand for online public services continues to grow.
