The DITO HOME WOWFi Prepaid 5G modem is now available in the Philippines. Made in collaboration with HUAWEI Technologies, DITO Telecommunity has launched their “true 5G” modem with speeds of up to 100Mbps.
The device offers the latest standards in connectivity with 5G RedCap (originally called NR-light) technology. This allows the modem to offer higher capacities and lower latencies. However, it only works on standalone 5G networks.
For practical applications, the Wi-Fi modem is relatively easy to set up. It’s a plug-and-play device, able to be used by underserved areas or places where wired communications struggle.
The DITO Home WOWFi is a prepaid, non-committal wireless service with its kit priced at PHP 1,990. This is inclusive of unlimited 5G and 50GB of 4G data for 30 days.
There’s also an option for a monthly subscription at PHP 790 that offers pretty much the same. If a customer can keep reloading the device uninterrupted for 10 months, they will receive an automatic rebate.
The modem is available though DITO’s e-shop 227 and physical stores or kiosks. Just keep in mind, their online portal is only accessible via mobile devices.
