Facebook has started merging the chat systems on Messenger and Instagram, making it easier for users to send messages between platforms.
The new feature is not widely available yet but has rolled out to a number of users. Those who received it get a pop-up on Instagram to let you know about the said feature. From there you can start chatting with friends who use Facebook. It also mentions a new colorful look for chats, emoji reactions, and swipe to reply to messages.
