Google Play Pass subscription-based service silently being tested

Google is silently testing its subscription-based app, Google Play Pass, that could potentially compete with Apple Arcade’s service.

A report has stated that the Google Play Pass is the Android counterpart of the app and game subscription-based service where the monthly cost is USD 4.99 (~PHP 256).

“Explore a curated catalog spanning puzzle games to premium music apps and everything in between. From action hits to puzzles and fitness trackers, with Google Play Pass you unlock access to hundreds of premium apps and games without ads, download fees or in-app purchases,” Google Play Pass info page

In another set of screenshots, you can see that there are already sets of games available to be played such as Stardew Valley and Marvel Pinball. There is also a notification that you can play them for free if you are subscribed to Google Play Pass.

Google hasn’t released any official statement yet; however, Android Police reached out to the company and they confirmed that this service is currently being tested. We’ll know more once the company launches this in the future.
