A few days ago, a handful of low-resolution photos have leaked showcasing an alleged 5-inch black with red accent HTC smartphone. Could this be the game-changer for the company who seemed to have lost its groove lately? Rumor has it that we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
This rumor all started back in July with a GLBenchmark result of an Android ICS device named HTC6435LVW which sports a full-HD (1740 x 1080) display with a dual-core Krait 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 SoC, Adreno 320 and a gigabyte of RAM under the hood.
There are also rumors that this device is going to run on WP8. While it’s clearly indicated in the GLBenchmark result that the alleged smartphone will run on ICS, we can’t discount the possibility that the device may also be the first 5-inch Windows Phone 8 device. This rumor actually makes sense because of three things; (1) the 5-inch screen of the rumored phone could be its main edge over its WP competition, (2) its specs fits the configuration of a flagship Windows Phone device rather than a flagship Android smartphone and lastly (3) this would be a great successor to the HTC Titan II. The only thing going against this rumor is if the OS can support Full-HD screen resolution.
Another version of the rumor, which has been reported by Androidauthority.com via Stuff.tv, indicates that the alleged 5-inch smartphone will be a refreshed version of the HTC One X and will go by the name Endeavor C2. However, this device will not bear the configuration mentioned above and will sport the revamped NVidia Tegra 3 which is clocked at 1.6Ghz.
The next smartphone from the Taiwanese stable has certainly sparked a lot of speculations in the smartphone community. At this point, we strongly suggest to take these rumors with the usual grain of salt. Fortunately, it won’t be long before all these allegations are laid to rest as the company will hold an exclusive conference which will take place on the 19th of this month. Be sure to catch our coverage of the said event.
