Huawei launches foldable ahead of Samsung’s new model

Listen to article

Samsung is expected to launch a new foldable phone called the Galaxy Z Fold Wide this year, but it may already face competition from Huawei. Huawei recently introduced the Pura X Max, a foldable device with a shorter and wider screen design.

The Pura X Max was announced ahead of Samsung’s expected launch and will first be released in China. The device has a design similar to earlier foldables like the Pixel Fold and OPPO Find N, focusing on a wider display for easier use.

Samsung is also planning to release the Galaxy Z Fold 8 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. While the Fold 8 is expected to follow the usual tall design, the Fold Wide may adopt a shorter and wider screen, similar to Huawei’s new device.

The Pura X Max includes a triple-camera setup and comes in different colors such as black, orange, purple, and white. However, it is not expected to launch globally.

Reports also suggest that Apple is working on its own foldable iPhone, which may use a similar wide design.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold Wide in July, while Apple’s foldable device may arrive later this year.
