Go-Jek, an Indonesian ride-sharing service, is planning to expand its services to three or four Southeast Asian countries to match up with its rival companies namely Grab and Uber.
Nadiem Makarim, Go-Jek Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, has been mum on the details on when or what countries he plans to roll out the expansion but he mentioned that “they will be places with a large population and where cash rules”. According to him, it’s about time that they bring competition outside of their home turf.
It’s possible that Go-Jek might find its way here in the Philippines, including Vietnam and Thailand as well, as these countries have the most number of people in Southeast Asia, with a combined population of about 270 million.
