Instagram for iPad officially announced

Listen to article

Instagram for iPad has been officially announced, following years of requests from users. The app, dedicated for iPads, is now optimized for larger screens while maintaining a similar layout to its mobile version.

Opening the app will bring users to Reels directly. Meanwhile, Stories remain at the top of the interface. In addition, Instagram also says that Messaging is accessible with one top.

What’s new will be the Following tab, which offers three filters. This includes All, Friends, and Latest. The latter will show users Posts and Reels in chronological order.

For those wondering, the feed will be centered on the display due to the iPad aspect ratios. As for Reels playback, users are now able to expand the comment section while the video stays at full size.

Instagram for iPad is currently rolling out globally for devices running iPadOS 15.1 or later. For Android users, a similar tablet layout is in development at the time of writing.
