New data from Counterpoint Research revealed that Apple’s iPhone 15 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in Q3 of 2024. Closely following in second and third place are the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, respectively.
Samsung maintained its strong presence with five Galaxy A-Series models in the top 10. Interestingly, the Galaxy A55 5G is absent from the list. Those listed are from the budget tier lineup including the Galaxy A15 (4G and 5G models), Galaxy A05, and the mid-range Galaxy A35 5G.

Nonetheless, Galaxy S24 also made a significant comeback, securing the tenth spot. This is the first time in a while where a Galaxy S Series model entered the top 10 since 2018.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi secured the ninth spot with its budget offering, the Redmi 13C. However, Apple’s influence has slightly waned, with a decreased market share down to 3.5% (previously, 3.8%).
Counterpoint adds that both brands are leveraging Generative AI as a ‘differentiating factor’ in the premium segment. The so-called Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI both make Apple’s and Samsung’s offerings to dominate these rankings, the research firm says 11.
