Leica unveils the SL3, a full-frame mirrorless camera boasting a high-resolution triple-sensor, powerful Maestro IV processor, and a durable magnesium alloy body with IP54 rating.
At the core of the Leica SL3 lies a 60.3MP triple-resolution CMOS sensor with built-in 5-axis image stabilization (IBIS). It offers up to 15 stops of dynamic range and 14-bit color depth for exceptional detail and minimal noise.
Under the hood is a Maestro IV processor enabling support for CFexpress Type-B cards for high-speed performance and stunning 8K video recording in various high-efficient codecs. The camera boasts a wide ISO range of 50-100,000 and shutter speeds from 60m to 1/8000s (mechanical) and 60s to 1/16,000s (electronic).
Images can be captured in 14-bit DNG or 8-bit JPEG formats and stored on CFexpress Type-B or SD XC II cards.
For the monitor, it features a high-resolution 5.76-million-dot EyeRes viewfinder with a smooth 60 or 120 fps (refresh rate) and 100% frame coverage. A 3.2-inch, 2.332-million-dot touchscreen LCD with anti-scratch and anti-fingerprint protection sits below, accompanied by a convenient 1.28-inch monochrome top display.
Leica SL3 sheds size and weight compared to its predecessors, measuring in at a comfortable 141.2 x 108 x 84.6mm and weighing just 769 grams (body only). This design, according to Leica, ensures balanced handling when paired with Leica L-Mount lenses.
The camera comes equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker. It also offers external microphone input and headphone output via a standard 3.5mm jack. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS.
As for battery life, the SL3 can deliver an estimated 260 to 1,350 shots — thanks to its 2,200mAh BP-SCL6 Lithium-ion battery.
