LG world’s first transparent, wireless 4K OLED TV to launch globally

LG Electronics has finally set to release its 77-inch LG SIGNATURE OLED T, a transparent, true wireless 4K OLED TV this year.

First unveiled at CES 2024, the OLED T is the first transparent OLED TV that can shift between transparent and opaque modes with a touch of a button.

This brings a versatile viewing experience while blending seamlessly into living spaces.

This new tech has already earned recognition, including a spot on TIME’s Best Inventions of 2024 and five CES Innovation Awards, such as the “Best of Innovation” nod.

LG touts this as a monumental leap in both TV technology and design bringing new screen experiences.

For example, in transparent mode, the display creates an almost holographic effect, with content floating against the backdrop of the surrounding space. The TV also features “T-Objet,” an Always-On-Display (AoD) mode that turns the screen into a digital canvas for artwork, photos, or videos.

Additionally, a “T-Bar” ticker can display information like weather updates, sports scores, or song titles along the bottom of the screen without obstructing the view.

Despite its large size at 77-inch, the OLED T’s transparency allows it to enhance the sense of openness in a room. It can be positioned in places where traditional TVs might be intrusive, such as in front of windows, without blocking natural light or views.

As for achieving that true wireless display, the TV is combined with LG’s Zero Connect Box. This wirelessly transmits both video and audio to the screen without latency (or so LG claims at least), and this also eliminates the need for cables.

This solution supports lossless 4K content at 120Hz and is certified as compatible with both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth, lag-free gaming.

With the OLED T, LG continues to push the boundaries of OLED technology, building on over a decade of innovations that began with the launch of the first LG OLED TV in 2013.

“LG SIGNATURE OLED T is an exceptional user-focused innovation that offers a distinctive, multi-faceted viewing experience and unprecedented spatial flexibility,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.

The new model promises to deliver vivid colors, high contrast, and immersive sound, all powered by LG’s advanced Alpha 11 AI processor.

The LG SIGNATURE OLED T will make its debut in the US this December, with more markets to follow.
