Starting Friday, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that electric tricycles, or e-trikes, and similar electric vehicles will be banned from using major highways in the National Capital Region.

According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, the ban covers EDSA, C-5 Road, Roxas Boulevard, and Quirino Avenue up to the Magallanes–South Luzon Expressway. The move is based on existing Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) regulations.
Drivers caught violating the ban may face fines, vehicle impoundment, or both violations in line with Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code and Joint Administrative Order 2014-01.
“Implementation of this policy hinges on road safety considerations. Major highways and roads are designed for large and fast-moving vehicles. E-trikes, by using these parameters, are not fit for large roads due to the fast and heavy pace of vehicle traffic,” Lacanilao said.

Ban them from all highways as they’re pests worst than camote riders, don’t know traffic rules, no drivers’ license.
