Starting Friday, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that electric tricycles, or e-trikes, and similar electric vehicles will be banned from using major highways in the National Capital Region. According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, the ban covers EDSA, C-5 Road, Roxas Boulevard, and Quirino Avenue up to the Magallanes–South Luzon Expressway. Drivers caught violating the ban may face fines, vehicle impoundment, or both violations in line with Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code and Joint Administrative Order 2014-01. E-trikes, by using these parameters, are not fit for large roads due to the fast and heavy pace of vehicle traffic,” Lacanilao said. Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband has upgraded its network to 3.5G (HSDPA) and dropped its unlimited monthly subscription fees to Sun subscribers.
