MetroDeal, a Filipino e-commerce company, is waving goodbye after 13 years of slashing prices on everything from spa treatments to travel adventures. The company recently announced its permanent closure, with all operations ceasing by May 31, 2024.
In a sentimental send-off, MetroDeal reminisced about its “remarkable journey,” where “every deal sealed a partnership, and every voucher a story of connection and joy.”
While on-site deals ceased on May 15th, the company clarified that all previously purchased vouchers will still be honored by merchants until their designated expiry dates.
MetroDeal also reassures a smooth exit. MetroDeal account access and customer support will be available until the end of the year. However, the method of contacting support will shift after May.
Until then, users can reach them via phone, Facebook Messenger, or email ([email protected]). After May 31st, email will be the sole channel for contacting customer service, which will remain operational until December 31st, 2024.
Founded in 2011, MetroDeal carved a niche for itself by offering steep discounts on experiences and products ranging from restaurant meals and spa treatments to exciting activities, shopping sprees, and travel packages. The platform catered not only to Filipinos but also in Thailand.
While the company didn’t specifically mention any reason, the rise of other e-commerce platforms, might have had a considerable significance to their shutdown.
“As we say goodbye, we want you to know that each click, each purchase, and each smile has been truly appreciated. Though our paths may diverge, the memories we’ve created together will always resonate,” MetroDeal said in their statement.
