The Metro Manila Development Authority will be creating a new app that will provide real-time traffic and other reports done by the government agency.
MMDA App, 2014
This is made in partnership with MediaQuest Holdings, majority stakeholder of local televsion network TV5. In a press release, the MMDA will empower motorists with the new app not only by providing traffic updates across the metro, but also news on flood alerts, disaster and emergency preparedness, road conditions, and road repairs.
“I am sure this platform will help prevent the spread of disinformation and help increase public’s participation at a higher level,” said Danny Lim, MMDA Chairman.
Under their memorandum of agreement, MediaQuest will be creating the said application for the MMDA while TV5 and its sister networks (Aksyon TV, 92.3 NewsFM, and One News) will be provided with MMDA’s real-time traffic information as part of the network’s ongoing efforts to bolster their news content,.
Their partnership isn’t new as both have teamed up to create the now-defunct MMDA Traffic Navigator (TNAV) in 2011 made available on TV5’s Interaksyon website. There’s also an abandoned MMDA app at the Google Play store that has not been updated since August 2014.
The new MMDA app is targeted to be available to the public by December 2018.
