The Passenger Service Charge (terminal fee) increase at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is officially in effect as of September 14. This marks the establishment’s first pricing adjustment in 20 years of service, a year after the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) took over.

For international flights, the fee has increased at about 70 percent, going up to PHP 950 from PHP 550. Meanwhile, domestic flights have practically doubled to PHP 390 from PHP 200 per passenger.
MIAA General Manager Eric Ines said that it’s been a long time since the terminal fee was increased. He also said that the Philippines offered ‘one of the lowest, if not the lowest in the Southeast Asian region.
The new rates were set under MIAA Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2024. The move was approved by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Cabinet, with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) behind the review of rates.

There are certain people that are exempted from paying the fee, as announced by ABS-CBN via a Facebook post 14. This includes Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), religious pilgrims, and athletes set to compete internationally.
As per the NNIC, the fee collection will go directly to airport operations and passenger service improvements. Aside from the effective changes, travelers flying out of the Philippines must pay a travel tax of PHP 1,620 for economy and PHP 2,700 for first class.

Also the 100% increase in express lane fees, the ECC, the shitty facilities and they wonder why they can’t attract as many tourists as other S.E. Asia Countries? Duh!
