Nintendo to release three new special edition New 2DS XLs this summer

Nintendo just shocked the world yet again today by announcing the summer release of three new special edition New Nintendo 2DS XLs — Animal Crossing, Minecraft, and Mario Kart 7.

On July 19, 2018, Japanese consumers can get their hands on the special edition New 2DS XL Animal Crossing Amiibo + for 15,980 yen w/o tax (~Php 7,736). The new handheld comes pre-installed with the Animal Crossing Amiibo + game and a design inspired by the title.

European fans can get their hands on this edition too the day after on July 20th. For the European version, the handheld comes pre-installed with Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo.

On the same day as the release of the Animal Crossing special edition Japanese consumers, once again, will also be able to purchase the Mario Kart 7 special edition New 2DS XL for 15,980 yen w/o tax (~Php 7,736). The handheld comes pre-installed with Mario Kart 7 and features a red and black Mario Kart color scheme and design.

Lastly, a few weeks after the release of the other two on August 2, Nintendo Japan will open sales for the New Nintendo 2DS XL Minecraft Edition. The handheld will have Minecraft: Nintendo 3DS Edition pre-installed and comes with a special Creeper design. This edition is priced at 16,980 yen w/o tax (~Php 8,220).

Sadly, Nintendo has yet to announce if there will be a US version of these special editions. So, for now, the Animal Crossing one is exclusive to Japan and EU, and the Minecraft and Mario Kart are exclusive to Japan.
