OnePlus has denied reports claiming that it is shutting down, saying the company continues to operate despite recent claims that its smartphone business is being dismantled.

The clarification comes after a report from Android Headlines claimed that Oppo, OnePlus’ parent company, was closing the brand’s mobile operations. According to the report, employees from North America, Europe, and Asia allegedly confirmed internal changes pointing to a shutdown. The publication also cited data from analyst firms suggesting that OnePlus is being slowly taken apart.
OnePlus, however, has pushed back against these claims. In response to inquiries, the company stated that it “continues to operate,” denying that it is closing its business. As of now, there has been no official announcement from Oppo confirming a shutdown.
The report highlighted that OnePlus shipments dropped by more than 20% in 2024, falling from around 17 million units to about 13–14 million, based on data from Omdia. India and China, which make up most of OnePlus’ sales, were also cited as problem areas, with shrinking market share and retail partners reportedly pulling back.
Despite these challenges, Oppo has reportedly assured users that existing OnePlus phones will still receive software updates and warranty support.
For now, OnePlus remains active, but questions about its long-term direction remain unanswered as the company has not shared further details about future devices or plans.
