Listen to article

OnePlus promised 4 years of battery health for their future smartphones, shedding more light on their developments through Weibo posts.

The company has been working on Glacier Battery. This power solution is suggested to be more efficient, durable, and energy-dense compared to other alternatives.

The new cell will be able to provide at least 80% of its original capacity after four years of regular usage. This is higher than the industry average of 800 charging cycles.

OnePlus has also confirmed the previously rumored 6,100mAh battery. The company revealed that we will see this packed in the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, launching next week.

This new battery will have a 763Wh/L energy density, while weighing only 14 grams. It will also retain 100W of fast charging support. Presently, it’s suggested that the 6,100mAh battery can charge from empty to full in 36 minutes.

Glacier Battery was developed with CATL, the largest battery manufacturer in the EV field. The Ningde-based company provided the expertise and the physical plants to develop OnePlus’ batteries for use from here on out.
