It’s finally happening! realme has officially confirmed its long-rumored partnership with Japanese imaging brand Ricoh for the upcoming realme GT 8 Pro. According to realme, this collaboration has been four years in the making, which explains the teaser tagline: “4 years in one snap.”

At the center of the deal is Ricoh GR technology, derived from the company’s iconic compact cameras. realme says the GT 8 Pro’s imaging system will benefit from advanced optics, refined color science, and image processing innovations co-developed with Ricoh. The phone will even ship with a custom camera interface designed to mimic the Ricoh GR’s shooting experience, with an emphasis on street photography.
Beyond cameras, the GT 8 Pro is shaping up to be a full-blown flagship. It will sport a detachable camera module with multiple designs, a 2K 144Hz AMOLED display co-developed with BOE (4,000 nits peak brightness), and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC paired with Realme’s R1 display chip. Rounding it out is a massive 7,000mAh+ battery with 120W charging, stereo speakers, and 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition.
realme will reveal more about the Ricoh partnership on October 14, ahead of the GT 8 Pro’s official launch.
