Samsung adds Bixby to its new line of refrigerators
Samsung unveiled its next generation Family Hub refrigerator which now comes with Bixby voice control at CES in Las Vegas today.
The new Family Hub works with all SmartThings ecosystem, allowing users to control and monitor their connected home from the Family Hub screen. This is made possible with the SmartThings app that connects the Family Hub to all Samsung and third party compatible devices.
It also comes with View Inside app which allows users manage their food and see the inside of their fridge from anywhere. There’s Meal Planner for food management, dietary restrictions, and food expiration dates. It has a new Deals app that lets users find great bargains and save them directly to the Shopping List or loyalty card.
The Family Hub now has Bixby and can recognize individual voices and provide personalized information based on preferences. Simply ask “Hi Bixby, what’s new today?” and the voice assistant will read out news, weather, and calendar updates depending on the user’s voice. It also features AKG Premium Quality Sound Speaker and users can now stream content from their smartphone to the Family Hub refrigerator.
Samsung is collaborating with leading companies like HomeAdvisor, Pinterest, The Weather Company and Buzzfeed’s Tasty to expand the Family Hub’s range of content. The company will also expand the platform to four new 4D FDR models, bringing the total to 14.
The new Family Hub will be available this spring in the US.
