LineageOS 23.2 adds Pixel-Style features in new update

Listen to article

LineageOS has released version 23.2, bringing two popular Pixel-style features to custom Android phones. The update adds Google’s new Material 3 Expressive design and a more customizable Quick Settings panel, giving users a cleaner look and more control over their devices.

LineageOS is one of the most widely used custom Android systems. With version 23.2, the development team is also changing how often major updates arrive. Instead of yearly releases, LineageOS will now follow a six-month update cycle. This change matches Google’s new schedule for Android’s open-source platform. Even with fewer major updates, security patches will still be released every month.

The new Material 3 Expressive design brings smoother animations, background blur effects, updated menus, and cleaner fonts. These visual changes also apply to built-in apps like the calculator and music player, making the system feel more modern and consistent.

Another key update is a fully customizable Quick Settings panel. Users can now arrange and personalize shortcuts more freely, similar to what Google introduced on Pixel phones and newer Samsung devices. This makes it easier to access important settings quickly.

Other improvements include an expanded dark mode and better file tools for private spaces, helping users manage files more securely. LineageOS 23.2 continues the project’s goal of offering Pixel-like features without relying on Google’s software.
