Samsung advances 6G network technology

Listen to article

After successfully testing its eXtreme multiple-input multiple-output (X-MIMO) technology in collaboration with KT Corporation, Samsung has announced a significant milestone in the development of 6G.

Peak download speeds of 3Gbps were attained by the team using the 7GHz band and an ultra-high-density antenna technology, which quadruples the number of antennas without requiring larger equipment.

The 7GHz band serves as the perfect frequency for 6G because it provides optimal coverage and capacity solutions that operate within the millimeter-wave spectrum. The researchers conducted their tests by streaming eight data streams from the base station to a device that operated in actual outdoor network conditions.

X-MIMO will serve as a crucial technology that will support the development of upcoming 6G networks. Samsung has emerged as a leader in next-generation mobile connectivity while developing commercial 6G networks which will deliver faster and more dependable connections.
