Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has been recognized for having the best mobile latency in the Philippines for Q1 to Q2 2025, based on data from Ookla, a global company that studies network performance. This means Smart and its value brand TNT delivered the fastest response time between a user’s device and the internet, giving Filipinos real-time connectivity for everyday online use.

According to Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence analysis, Smart recorded a median latency of 45.89 milliseconds across all network types. Latency shows how fast data travels to and from the internet, and lower numbers mean quicker reactions for apps, games, and online services.
Smart said this recognition reflects its goal of giving users connections that respond quickly to every tap and swipe. Debbie M. Hu, First Vice President and Head of Wireless Networks at Smart, explained that people now expect online actions to feel instant, whether for work, school, videos, or calls. Ookla CEO Stephen Bye also noted that Smart’s performance stood out based on their testing system.
Ookla’s findings came from millions of tests done by users across the country, showing real experiences of Smart and TNT subscribers. Fast response times are now more important as people rely on mobile networks for gaming, video calls, livestreaming, online classes, and digital payments.
Smart’s win supports the PLDT Group’s goal of helping build a more connected digital nation, in line with the country’s digital plans and the UN’s goal on industry and innovation.
