Listen to article

Smart Communications has received the Best Mobile Video Experience award from Ookla, recognizing the company’s performance in mobile video streaming.

The award is based on Speedtest Intelligence data covering the third and fourth quarters of 2025. According to Ookla’s analysis, Smart achieved a Video Score of 78.60, placing it ahead of other mobile operators in the Philippines.

Ookla’s Video Experience metric evaluates real-world streaming performance based on three factors: video start time, uninterrupted playback, and the ability to stream content in full HD resolution.

The company said the recognition reflects the streaming experience of Smart and TNT subscribers across platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Netflix.

According to Ookla, higher scores indicate that users are more likely to experience faster video start times, minimal buffering, and consistent high-definition playback.

The recognition comes alongside Smart’s earlier citation for Best Mobile Latency in the Philippines, also awarded by Ookla.

Industry data suggests video consumption continues to grow among Filipino internet users. A Digital 2026 report by Meltwater and We Are Social found that Filipinos spend about 20.48 hours per week watching online videos, among the highest globally.

Smart said the award highlights ongoing investments in network infrastructure aimed at supporting increasing demand for video streaming and other real-time mobile applications.
