Sony and TCL have announced plans to explore a new partnership focused on home entertainment products such as televisions and home audio systems.

The two companies have signed an initial agreement to discuss forming a joint venture that would take over Sony’s home entertainment business.
Under the plan, TCL would own 51 percent of the new company while Sony would hold 49 percent. The joint venture would handle the entire process globally, including product design, manufacturing, sales and customer support.
Sony and TCL aim to finalize the partnership by March 2026, subject to regulatory approvals with operations expected to begin in April 2027.
Products are expected to continue using the Sony and BRAVIA names as both companies look to compete more strongly in the growing global TV and home entertainment market.
