Sony FX2 is now official in the Philippines

Listen to article

Sony has officially launched the FX2 (ILME-FX2) in the Philippines, a compact full-frame camera designed to bridge the gap between pro-level cinema rigs and solo creators.

Positioned between the FX3 and FX6, the FX2 is built for flexibility across video production, hybrid shooting, and mobile filmmaking.

Sony FX2 Key Features

  • 33MP Full-Frame Exmor R Sensor

  • Up to 15+ stops of dynamic range (S-Log3)

  • 4K 60p (All-Intra, 4:2:2 10-bit), DCI 4K supported

  • Dual Base ISO: 800 / 4000

  • Up to 13 hours of 4K recording with internal fan

  • Variable Frame Rate: up to 120fps at Full HD

The FX2 supports high-efficiency codecs like XAVC S-I, Cine EI, and allows importing custom LUTs for accurate color monitoring on set. It also offers anamorphic desqueeze and built-in S-Cinetone for quick cinematic looks.

While it keeps the familiar FX3 layout, the FX2 introduces a 3.68M-dot EVF with an articulating eyepiece—something not found in previous FX models. There’s also a MOVIE/STILL toggle, enabling quick switch between video and 33MP still capture with Log shooting for post-grade workflows.

Sony has also added Auto Framing and Framing Stabilizer features for solo shooting, alongside Real-time Recognition AF for people, animals, and even vehicles. Manual control tools like Focus Breathing Compensation and AF Transition Speed remain onboard.

The FX2’s design supports cageless rigs with multiple 1/4″ mounts and is compatible with Sony’s existing Cinema Line ecosystem. Vertical shooting support and accessibility features like a screen reader are also included.

The Sony FX2 is built for independent filmmakers, hybrid shooters, and small crew teams looking for cinema-grade video and stills in a compact body. With pro-level audio, internal cooling, and updated autofocus tools, the FX2 is a flexible choice for everything from weddings and YouTube content to indie productions and run-and-gun documentaries.
