The Sony RX1R III is now official as the latest model in its flagship, compact full-frame camera line. Sony’s latest offering is aimed at professionals and enthusiasts looking for high-quality imaging with a portable form-factor.

Among the third-gen model’s highlights are its 61-megapixel 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor, BIONZ XR image processing engine, and a ZEISS Sonnar T* 35mm F2 lens. The sensor incorporates AR coating, omitting the optical low-pass filter for better clarity.

While it does have a fixed lens, it’s fairly versatile with its Step Crop Shooting function. This lets users simulate 50mm and 70mm focal lengths. It also has a macro ring, allowing for close-up shots as near as 20cm.

Other features include being able to leverage AI for precise subject recognition and tracking and offers up to 693 phase detection AF points. It’s slated to deliver excellent image quality, high resolution, and a wide dynamic range.

Its built from lightweight magnesium alloy and includes a 2.36 million-dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder. It packs a NP-FW50 battery which charges via USB Type-C and supports up to 300 stills per charge.

The Sony RX1R III is currently priced at USD 5099.99 (~PHP 289,000) in the US, set to be available later this month. We’ll update readers for its pricing and availability in the Philippines when details are ready.
