Spotify Lite being tested on Google’s Play Store

Spotify is the next big app service to jump into the lite app bandwagon as a Spotify Lite is spotted at the Google Play store.

The ‘lite’ app is sized at 15MB and touts to work on all Internet connections and Android devices. It also offers in-app data management, but lacks a few features as we’ve checked it out ourseleves. Those axed from the full version include the inability to select stream quality, creating playlists, and downloading tracks offline.

Major apps are have created lite versions of their apps in response to Google debuting a lower-resource Android Go that aims to take up less space. Some lite apps already in the market are those from Facebook, Instagram, and Skype.

Spotify’s Lite app was released just a few days ago and is in Beta version at the Google Play store. As checked, it may take time to be officially available to everyone as it’s currently restricted only to select markets. You may also download the APK files over at APKMirror should you want to try it out.
