SpaceX’s Starlink availability map is showing that its services may soon be available in the Philippines from the fourth quarter of 2022.
It has been recently reported by Reuters that the Philippines will be the first nation in Southeast Asia to receive satellite broadband service from Starlink. And possibly second in entire Asia, next to Japan which will connect in the third quarter of the same year.
This also corresponds to the trending news last month that the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan will aggressively talk and negotiate with the Starlink representatives.
A reminder for everyone though that Starlink still has pending service coverage or still needs regulatory approval, thus they have a disclaimer that says “Estimates are contingent on government approval and network expansions.”
This is now possible thanks to the recently signed law of President Rodrigo Duterte amending the Commonwealth Act No. 146, or the amended Public Service Act, it eases restrictions on foreigners to fully own a business in our country.
We also have previously reported that the company is already registering its business in the Philippines.
