Steam Deck will support games with Easy Anti-Cheat

Valve has recently announced titles depending on Epic Games’ Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) software can now run on Steam Deck.

According to Steamworks in an update, adding Steam Deck support to titles that utilize EAC is “a simple process.” Additionally, they also said that it doesn’t require updating game binaries, SDK versions, or integration of EOS.

Alongside their BattlEye updates from last year, this means that the two largest anti-cheat services are now easily supported on Proton and Steam Deck. This also means more of gamers’ favorite games will work with Valve’s handheld when it officially becomes available.

“We’re very excited to be able to make this announcement as it means partners can continue to use their existing cheat prevention tools while adding support for more amazing games on Steam Deck,” said Steamworks.

If your title uses EAC or BattlEye, check out the instructions for enabling Proton support in the partner documentation here.

Meanwhile, Steam Deck is available to reserve now in select regions and will begin shipping in February 2022.
