Last Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Philippines formally launched the eCourt Portal, an online platform aimed at modernizing court processes nationwide.

This new system allows lawyers and litigants to file cases and pleadings online, track case status in real time, and receive notifications for hearings and updates.

The eCourt Portal is part of the judiciary’s wider push for efficiency and transparency. It can support features like electronic filing, digital case calendars, and public kiosks for limited access to case information.

Users can create an account, upload documents, and pay filing fees, all from their home computers or mobile devices. Here’s what can be done with the portal:

eFiling – Online filing of cases and pleadings before the Supreme Court.

Case Tracking – Real-time dashboard for status, orders, and hearing dates.

Notifications – SMS/email alerts for hearings and updates.

Public Access – Kiosk mode with privacy protections (private information will be redacted).

The rollout began with pilot courts in early 2025 and will expand to all trial courts by 2027. By July 1, eFiling will be available to the public and starting October 1, 2025, eFiling will be mandatory for all Supreme Court cases except administrative and bar matters.

In November 2024, the Supreme Court also announced it has started using AI software for preliminary legal research and voice-to-text transcription.
