Transsion becomes top smartphone vendor in PH for Q3 2024 –IDC

Transsion, the parent company of TECNO, Infinix, and itel, has become the top smartphone vendor in the Philippines for Q3 2024.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), Transsion has captured 37% market share leading to an impressive 63% year-on-year (YoY) growth.

IDC further explained that the entry-level segment had the strongest growth in the Southeast Asia. The entry-level segment, that covers sub-USD 100 price range, captured 30% market share in the same quarter as compared to 20% last year.

The driving force behind it? It’s none other than Transsion. Interestingly, Xiaomi becomes the second top smartphone company for the entirety of the SEA region in the entry-level segment.

However, locally, realme came in second in the top five smartphone vendors in the Philippines. The company managed to get 17% share with 10% annual growth.

Coming in third is OPPO with 11% share and 7% YoY growth. Xiaomi then takes the fourth rank with 10% market share, but with a significantly higher 33% YoY growth. And closing out the top five is Samsung (10% share, 11% YoY).

OPPO, Samsung tied at #1 in SEA for Q3 2024

As for overall rankings in SEA, both OPPO and Samsung tied at the top spot in the same quarter. They both captured about 18% market share with 7% YoY growth.

Following third is Transsion with 17% share and a whopping 58% annual growth. Xiaomi (14.9%) and vivo (9.8%) ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, however, only vivo saw a decrease with -7% YoY.

Despite that, the SEA smartphone market saw an increase in shipments with 11% YoY growth accounting to about 25.4 million units shipped.

Pardon the ignorance but I don’t know any of the Transsion brands. Perhaps because I haven’t been looking for a new phone for the past few years. Nakakagulat na dominant na sa Phil. market. What about Huawei?
