Xperia 1 VI flagship device from Sony is expected to launch officially on May 17th. Previous leaks and rumors revealed pricing for the Japanese market may see a slight decrease over to its previous generation of Xperia devices.
Even according to numerous reports, the price of the Sony Xperia 1 VI in Taiwan is rumored to be lower than its previous Xperia 1 V.
While the Sony Xperia 1 V was priced at NT$41,990 ($1,400 / ~PHP 80k) in Taiwan, and the new Xperia 1 VI is said to be priced at approximately lower at NT$39,900 ($1,350 / ~PHP 77k ).
This price drop in Taiwan is noteworthy, as the Japanese yen has significantly depreciated over the last couple of years. Plus this currency fluctuation may have led to a significant price increase for the Xperia 1 V in Japan in comparison with other regions.
Moreover, in terms of overseas markets price is expected to remain steady, but consumers still hopes that Sony may opt to adjust the Xperia 1 VI’s pricing in Japan to account for the yen’s depreciation, potentially making the new flagship device more accessible to domestic customers.
This could help Sony maintain competitiveness in its homegrown market as it prepares to unveil the next iteration of its premium Xperia smartphone lineup.
