vivo V29 announced: Snapdragon 778G, 1.5K AMOLED screen, ‘Aura Light’ camera feature

vivo’s next midrange smartphone, the vivo 10 V29, has finally gone official and it’ll make its debut soon in Europe. It boasts a Snapdragon 778G chipset and a 1.5K AMOLED screen. And its main highlight is the ‘Aura Light‘ feature. It works wonders in low-light environments to give your portrait photography that extra oomph.

Aura Light recap

Similar to what we saw on the vivo V27 5G, the Aura Light acts like a ring light. The ‘Aura Light’ (15.6mm in diameter), sits just below the two camera lenses of the V29. This significantly improves portrait shots under low-lighting conditions with “illumination on every angle”.

According to vivo, this feature creates a “three-dimensional lighting” effect that eliminates facial shadows and dark areas. vivo also claims that the V29 offers a 36% increase in brightness compared to its predecessor, the V27, allowing for shots with vivid clarity.

vivo has yet to release the full specs of the V29. But they did outline what to expect. Powering this device is a Snapdragon 778G that is 5G-enabled and with eSIM support.

It packs up to 16GB extended RAM and comes with a large VC cooling system.

As for the display, expect a crisp 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED curved display. With 120Hz refresh rate, 452 ppi, and supports DCI-P3 color gamut.

At the rear protrudes a 50-megapixel main lens with OIS. While at the front is another 50-megapixel lens with autofocus.

For the battery, it packs a 4600mAh cell paired with 80W wired charging. The brand the device charges from 1% to 50% in just 18 minutes. It will be available in two colorways, Peak Blue and Noble Black.

Lastly, it comes with IP68 rating—protection against water and dust. However, only variants released in Europe and North America get the said rating.

Price and availability

As mentioned earlier, the vivo V29 will debut first in Europe. However, the company has not yet announced the launch date nor its pricing details. Stay tuned for updates!
