Wheelbase app launches to improve Motorcycle Safety in the Philippines

Listen to article

A new mobile app called Wheelbase has launched in the Philippines to help improve motorcycle safety using real-time technology. Developed by Colab Digital Solutions, the app focuses on emergency response, ride tracking, and rider coordination, addressing a long-standing issue: delayed help after motorcycle accidents.

Launched in December 2025, Wheelbase centers on an Emergency Safety system that works with crash detection features already available on supported smartphones. When a crash is detected, the app automatically sends alerts to chosen emergency contacts and riding group members. Riders can also trigger alerts manually with a three-second press inside the app. Each alert includes the rider’s last known location, helping others respond faster.

Beyond emergencies, Wheelbase offers tools designed for everyday use. Riders can search for nearby motorcycle repair shops, parts stores, and accessory dealers using location-based features. This is helpful for breakdowns, especially when riding in unfamiliar areas.

The app also tracks rides and records route data, distance, and location. Users can review their past rides or share routes with the community to help others discover safe and tested paths.

Wheelbase includes event and community features that allow users to organize group rides, tambikes, and motorcycle events. Organizers can manage participants by setting events as public or private.

A built-in marketplace lets riders buy and sell gear within the app, keeping transactions within a trusted community. Wheelbase is available now on the Apple App Store, with an Android version coming soon.
