Xiaomi 11T series to receive extended system and security updates

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro would receive three Android system upgrades and four years of security patches when they officially arrive.

Xiaomi is guaranteeing a better user experience for customers and longer-term data security.

“With the continuous improvement made to smartphone hardware, the life cycle of a smartphone is gradually lengthening, meaning users aren’t required to replace their smartphones as frequently. For this reason, more consumers place great importance on receiving the latest operating system updates, along with the latest features” said Albert Shan, Head of Product and Technology, Xiaomi International.

This welcome update doesn’t apply though for current Xiaomi smartphones. Xiaomi has only stated that only the 11T and 11T Pro will receive this development.

In addition, the company has evaluated the possibility of bringing the extended Android system and security updates to more Xiaomi devices in the future.
