Yahoo Groups to shutdown on December 15

Yahoo recently announced that it will shutdown Yahoo Groups before 2020.

As spotted on the support page of Yahoo Groups, the advisory states that Yahoo Groups will stop its operations on December 15, 2020. This means that members will no longer be able to send and receive emails from Yahoo Groups on the said date. Group members won’t also be able to send and receive emails.The website will also be disabled. However, users who have sent and received emails before December 15, 2020 will remain in their inbox.

Only the admins of a group will be able to get a list of its members.

Here’s how to recover group members before Yahoo Group ends:

1. Click Management  then go to Manage members.
2. Click the Actions menu.
3. Choose the Export button.

Yahoo recommends Facebook Groups, Google Groups, and Groups.io in replacement of Yahoo Groups.

The shutdown won’t affect the Yahoo Mail services.

Yahoo decided to shut down the Yahoo Groups due to the decline of usage. The company also said that it will focus more on its other areas of business.
