YouTube Music has started rolling out a refreshed Now Playing interface for both Android and iOS, giving the app a cleaner, more modern look. While functionality remains largely the same, some controls have shifted, which may take users a bit of time to adjust.
The most noticeable change is the removal of the Song/Video switcher from the top. Instead, it now sits in a scrollable row of actions at the bottom, alongside familiar options like Thumbs Up/Down, Comments, Save, Lyrics, Share, Download, and Radio. The scrubber bar has also been slightly redesigned, appearing thicker for better visibility.
Accessing the Up Next queue is now done by tapping or pulling up a drag handle showing the current playlist or radio name. This opens a new dual-pane view with a preview of upcoming tracks and the option to expand further.
You can also expand the Lyrics and Related tabs, though YouTube Music is reportedly planning to make lyrics a Premium-only feature soon.
The redesign is gradually rolling out. If you don’t see it yet, head to your device Settings, find the YouTube Music app, tap Force Stop, then reopen the app to trigger the update.
