Asus Eee PC 1005P gets priced

Listen to article

Stores are now selling the refreshed version of the 10″ Asus Eee PC 1005P Seashell running an Atom N450 processor. Options for no OS or Windows 7 makes the pricing a bit interesting.

The one with Windows 7 Starter has a suggested retail price of Php21,900 while the one without any OS is just Php19,896.

Asus Eee PC 1005P
10.1″ display screen @ 1024×600 pixels
Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66GHz
Intel GMA 3150
1GB DDR2 RAM
250GB HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth
0.3MP webcam
Windows 7 Starter
Price: Php21,900

1GB DDR2 RAM
320GB HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth

No Operating System

The 2 thousand peso difference for the OS and the HDD upgrade to 320GB makes this model a pretty nice deal. I think it’s a good thing they offer options without any OS so consumers can save up a bit and just run some free OS like Ubuntu.

I just bought a unit at P13,440, with just about the same specs at 1GB DDR3 RAM and 250GB HDD. Netbook prices are really sinking these days due to tight competition.

I want to get one for my girlfriend, but how would i install an OS for the model with no operating system included if im going to install via USB??

Sa pc kasi, automatic na pag nag boot gamit ang dvd drive, mag iinstall na siya. thanks!!

You have to make a bootable USB drive . Then configure the BIOS to boot through USB.

Plenty of tutorials on the net.
If you’re planning to use Ubuntu, that procedure is also included.

Hi, pwede po bang palitan ang HDD into a SSD? Di ko po kasi kasi kailangan ng 320 gb sa isang netbook. Sayang lang.

We got the one with Windows 7 Starter.

Is there a way to upgrade Windows Starter to Windows Home Premium?

how long is its battery life po?

I’m still wondering if the asus 1000HE still holds the record for the longest battery life which is 7-9 hours…

AFAIK, PE version has a bigger battery and chicklet keyboard.

That is why the PE version is rated 14 hrs on a single charge.

@Sir Yuga: But the PE variant has chiclet style of keyboard, right?

http://www.liliputing.com/2010/01/the-difference-between-the-asus-eee-pc-1005p-and-1005pe.html

Or P and PE variants are really just the same at least here in the Philippines?

It’s a very good deal. Those who have been looking for an affordable and capable netbook would find this model very attractive.

I’d install Ubuntu on this one in case I buy it.
