Coming in exclusively today, the redesigned Asus FonePad 7 packs almost everything we loved about its predecessor, with a few downgrades in screen & camera resolutions and internal memory. But even with that said, Asus has aggressively priced the FonePad 7 FE170CG at a very affordable price point, without much compromising the experience – this is why a lot of eyes are set on the device.

The packaging itself is really clean and simple. The device comes in only with the usual papers, the plastic and the charger set and you’ll be good to go. For the quick unboxing of the device, check out our video down below:
For an affordable tablet, the FonePad 7 doesn’t feel cheap at all. In fact, it feels a lot classier than most of its competitors and even those of the higher price range. It’s solidly built, and the materials used are well chosen.

Powering on the device, we are greeted by Asus’ UI which looks really good; again, better than a lot of skins out there! The display isn’t exactly good to look at, but it’s tolerable from what we’ve seen so far. Also, we were greeted with a software update that you will need to download. We will update you more on all of that in the full review.

Breezing through the UI, the camera software and through a few apps, the device is really snappy – something to expect of an Intel Inside device. We will be testing it further through benchmark tests, gaming and a battery test soon to see if it stacks up well to our standards. For the most part, we haven’t encountered any hiccups or lags, and that’s a good start for the new FonePad 7.
