Lenovo’s IdeaPad S12 now with NVidia Ion

Listen to article

Seems like Lenovo has made the first call to taking in an NVidia Ion chipset with its upcoming IdeaPad S12 netbook.

The GPU will definitely boost performance of the netbook and be able to play 1080p HD videos. With a screen size of 12.1″ (1280×800 pixels), the unit can be hardly called a netbook anymore.

lenovo ideapad s12

The S12 will still have an Intel Atom N270 CPU @ 1.6GHz, 1 GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 1.3 MP webcam, WiFi 802.11 b/g, and bluetooth. A 3-cell and 6-cell battery will also be included out of the box. There’s an option to have it with Intel GMA 950 too.

Should be out next month (June) and priced at $449 for the Intel GMA and 499 for the Nvidia Ion model {via PCWorld}.

ang astig nito. Linis nang gameplay dun sa demo nung Call of Duty considering medyo matakaw din sa graphics yun. Sabi daw, kaya ganun eh dahil sa video card na yung nagproprocess. hehehehe I wonder how much is this. Sana di agad at sana di lumagpas nang 23K. Pwede nang makipag-compete sa X series nung lenovo/thinkpad :) almost half the price pa!

PC Corner told me by next they will have this. So it’s safe to assume by August it’s everywhere.

I am really excited to have it once and for all. In fact, i am saving my dimes for buying ideapad s12. I would like to get my hands on this unit. Especially for it’s gaming capabilties. Will you blog some sites where to pre-order the unit.

Specs that I saw from other site (http://portablemonkey.com/article/hands-on-with-the-12.1-lenovo-ideapad-s12-with-ion/)

“The Lenovo Ideapad S12 sports a 12.1” 1280 x 800 glossy display, Atom N270 processor, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD and integrated HSDPA. You also get a HDMI port in addition to a VGA port.”

With this spec this definitely a good buy! Time to reserved the money for this. :)

Guys you can check out a comparison of two systems, one which isn’t running on a Nvidia ION chip while the other is. Check it out here:

screen might juts be too large to be classified as a netbook.

it looks really nice!
but then, i don’t consider this a netbook ‘coz of its size!

Ion platform with only $499, it’s really a bargain. Back to the time of thin & light segment two years ago.
