Lenovo unveils Android ThinkPad Tablet for Business

Listen to article

So aside from the IdeaPad U300 ultrabook, Lenovo Philippines also unveiled another Android Honeycomb tablet. The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet is aimed towards the enterprise and businesses and is expected to be available in the market by end of 2nd week of December.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet specs:
10.1” WXGA (1280×800) 16:10 IPS panel @ 1280×800 pixels
Corning Gorilla Glass
Digitizer Pen or Stylus (optional)
NVidia Tegra 2 Dual-Core 1.0GHz processor
Up to 64GB storage
Bluetooth 2.1
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
3G connectivity (optional)
USB 2.0 and micro-USB ports
Full-size SD card slot
mini-HDMI output
5MP rear camera
2MP front-facing camera
Google Android Honeycomb 3.1

The ThinkPad Tablet has a little more heft at 1.65lbs (0.75kg) but promises up to 8 hours of battery life (with WiFi enabled) on a single full charge.

And since Lenovo is targeting business users, they got Documents to Go app by DataViz pre-loaded on the tablet as well as the McAfee Mobile Security app and Computrace Mobile. Additional security features include data encryption, support for corporate email, virtual application support with Citrix, simple zero-touch deployment with LanDesk and secure email support available from Good Technology. For the optional digitizer pen, they got FlexT9 and Notes Mobile pre-installed. You can also get more business-related apps from the Lenovo App Shop.

During the party and unveiling last night, I also saw a companion wireless keyboard and case for the tablet. Suggested retail price for the 32GB model will start at Php28,000.

I got my 32GB unit last October thru Amazon.com, as of now i’m satisfied with it. Although it would have been better if additional accessories can be source locally i.e. the Dock, Folio with Keyboard and Car Charger etc..
Since its just a WIFI unit, I’m contemplating of buying the GOBI3000 WWAN card to upgrade it to have 3G capability.
