Samsung launches 15-inch Series 9 ultrabook

Last night, Samsung Philippines launched their 2nd-generation ultrabooks with the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processors. They also showcased a 15-inch Series 9 ultrabook and a 13-inch super-affordable Series 5 ultrabook (under Php30k).

Incidentally, we’ve actually seen these ultrabooks a couple of weeks ago in the floors of the Computex.

The 15-inch Series 9 ultrabook packs an Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. The 15-inch display only has a resolution of 1600×900 pixels though.

It’s got a matte finish, aluminum body that’s only 14.9mm thin and weighs just 1.65kg (3.63lbs). Not bad for a 15-incher, right?

For comparison, the 13-inch Macbook Air is 17mm thick (at the base) and weighs 1.35 kg (2.96 pounds). The price of the MBA 13 with similar specs is Php77,990.

The 15-inch Samsung Series 9 will retail for about Php76,900 when it hits the stores.

  5. Its appearance deserves a thumbs up from us, too; the Series 9 sports an aluminum body with a matte finish and thickness of just 14.9mm making it, according to Samsung, the thinnest 15-inch ultrabook in the market today. Whoa! :)
