Android Things is the new OS for smart devices

After conquering the internet, our smartphones and smartwatches, Google is now getting ready to take over other smart devices.

Today, Google has announced Android Things, the new name for Brillo, is ready for public testing. Developers can grab the images right now for several hardware platforms. If you’re pretty updated with the happening in the tech industry, Internet of Things (IoT) is the next big thing for consumers. This will basically make appliances and small devices at home smarter.

Android Things is based on Android that’s simplified and tweaked to run flawlessly on low-power IoT devices. Pretty much how Android Wear for wearable was brought to life. Advantages of this include the familiarity of Android Studio, Google Play Services, and the whole Google Cloud Platform.

Google’s own Weave communications platform for Internet of Things (IoT) devices is to be used here and will add compatibility for Google Assistant.
