Google introduces Morse Code feature to Gboard

Listen to article

Google introduced a Morse code feature to the Google Keyboards at Google I/O 2018.

Morse Code is a code in which letters are represented by combinations of long and short signals of light or sound. Google introduced the feature to Gboard as a way to help people with disabilities to communicate. One example is Tania Finlayson’s story.

The Google Morse Code keyboard, when activated, will replace the usual keyboard with two separate areas for short and long signals. Just like with the usual keyboard, word suggestions and predictions will appear above it.

The Google Morse Code keyboard feature will be available in beta on Android devices starting today.
