Xiaomi may replace MiUI with MiOS

Rumor has it that Xiaomi’s MiUI will be replaced with a new operating system (OS) called MiOS.

It seems Xiaomi has trademarked the name MiOS and the mios.cn domain. A MiOS developer beta have been seen in Chinese media as well.

It’s not clear whether the MiOS will be a new OS or it will be an Android overlay UI.

Word on the street is that Xiaomi may follow Huawei who have launched their own Android Open Source Project (AOSP) based OS.
