#8GB LPDDR5 DRAM

Samsung unveils their first 8Gb LPDDR5 DRAM that is said to support 5G and AI-powered mobile devices. The 8Gb LPDDR5 DRAM boasts a data rate of up to 6,400Mb/s which is said to be 1.5 times as fast as the chips that are currently used in flagship devices e.g. Samsung stated that they designed the 8Gb LPDDR5 DRAM to support 5G and AI capabilities of smartphones along with UHD compatibilities. The company, together with leading global chip vendors, has also completed functional testing and validation of a prototype 8GB LPDDR5 DRAM package, which is comprised of eight 8Gb LPDDR5 chips. Samsung has announced their 0.65mm-thin LPDDR5X DRAM made for smartphones. Samsung Electronics has announced that it has developed the industry’s first 14-nanometer (nm) based 16-gigabit (Gb) Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM. According to Samsung, the LPDDR5X DRAM is designed to drive further growth throughout the high-speed data service applications including 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the metaverse. “Our LPDDR5X will broaden the use of high-performance, low-power memory beyond smartphones and bring new capabilities to AI-based edge applications like servers and even automobiles.” Moreover, Samsung's LPDDR5X is a next-generation mobile DRAM designed to significantly boost speed, capacity, and power savings for future 5G applications.
