Perplexity has launched its AI browser, Comet, on Android devices, expanding its AI-powered search from desktop to mobile. The move allows Android users to experience AI-driven browsing, research, and shopping directly on their phones. Comet brings most desktop features to mobile, letting users set it as the default search engine, ask questions through tabs, and use voice commands to interact with the assistant. The AI can summarize searches across multiple tabs, track its own actions, and even block ads automatically. Perplexity plans to add more features in the coming weeks, including a conversational agent that can search across websites, shortcuts for quick AI actions, and a password manager. Users can control how the AI interacts with their tabs and searches. ChatGPT can help search, summarize, explain, and compare information while users talk in the same thread. Search engine giant, Google, has introduced Scholar Labs which leverages AI to answer users’ scholarly research questions.
