After numerous leaks that left almost nothing to hide, Google took the wraps off Android's newest version, aptly named Oreo, at a Livestream in New York City following the historic solar eclipse in the USA. With the unveiling, Google has officially made a licensing partnership with Mondelez International, the parent company of the Oreo brand, in using the name on all related campaigns and materials related to the version of the mobile operating system. Google is not new to partnerships related to Android, as it had partnered with Nestle to bring KitKat as the name for Version 4.4 back in 2013. Google's Android Oreo is expected to hit Pixel devices first, followed by Nexus and capable Android One devices, and then to different smartphone manufacturers who will be detailing their timelines of support/release as time goes by. It brings several new features and refinements ahead of the public beta launch in July and the official release later this year. The update improves RCS messaging by adding support for replying to specific messages in conversations with Android users. Google has just announced a new version of Android 12 that is catered to larger screen sizes called, Android 12L. Android 12L will focus on tablets, foldables, and ChromeOS devices.
